A small-batch illuminated object designed to evoke the quiet focus of firelight.

Each lantern in this collection explores the relationship between structure, pattern, and moving light. When illuminated, the flame-effect LED within activates the translucent paper backing, casting a warm, fire-like glow that invites stillness rather than brightness. It is not intended to flood a room with light, but to create a contained atmosphere — a modern hearth scaled for desks, shelves, and interior corners.

The lantern is constructed from precision-cut 1/4" engineered wood. Each of the four structural side panels is laser-cut and backed with Unryu “cloud dragon” paper — a translucent mulberry-fiber paper whose visible strands become animated when backlit. Two opposing panels feature the primary motif of the design, while the remaining two panels introduce a complementary geometric or patterned element, creating visual balance from every angle.

The top panel includes coordinated cutwork for both ventilation and light diffusion, allowing glow to escape upward while maintaining the integrity of the form. All structural components are sealed prior to assembly to enhance durability and surface stability.

Each lantern includes a flame-tip LED bulb and a 6-foot cord set with inline switch, providing a complete plug-and-play lighting experience. The LED produces a warm amber tone and subtle flame movement without open flame, smoke, or heat.

Lanterns are produced in small, material-based series. Each piece is hand-marked on the underside with the month and year of production, the maker’s initials, and its sequence within the batch (for example: 02.2026 Tg — 2 of 3).
